6 Easy Steps to Reclaim Your Feminine Energy

I have never thought of myself as super feminine.

I was a tomboy growing up and got along better with boys. I also enjoyed a lot of the same things as my dad and grandpa, so we spent most weekends doing things like fishing, hiking, and watching sports–and backpacking every summer.

I used to think it was good to reject my feminine side and be ‘one of the guys.’ I’ve always been a hard worker and didn’t want to be seen as too soft (which I cringe at now).

I’m not saying you need to completely live in your feminine energy. But I am saying that you can be strong while embracing both your feminine and masculine sides. After all, you have both for a reason.

Masculine energy is often associated with things like independence, hard work, assertiveness, determination, courage, and being protective. We’ve rooted deeply into these characteristics and tend to value them over their counterparts.

Our culture has become off balance and rejects femininity because we’re afraid to slow down, reflect, or let our creative sides show. We’re stuck with this idea that forcing everything as fast as we can is the only way to make it happen. But, it’s safe to lean into your feminine energy. We feel more well-rounded when we are balanced in our feminine and masculine energies.

God created men and women with different strengths and characteristics to be a support for one another. Both men and women possess masculine and feminine energies. Women inherently have more feminine energy traits and men have more masculine energy traits. But this has become skewed in modern culture because of hustle culture and desperately trying to redefine gender roles.

So, what exactly is feminine energy? And how can you balance your masculine and feminine energies?

It’s true that feminine energy goes well beyond enjoying things that are seen as feminine. For the sake of defining it, the Bible Dictionary says a woman is, “An adult female person, a daughter of God. The term Woman is sometimes used in scripture as a title of respect.”

When we learn how to balance our feminine and masculine energies, we allow ourselves to show up authentically–making room for self-love, confidence, and inner peace. The goal is to have balance and know what feels good. Try adding some of these things into your life when you feel out of balance.

1. Get creative.

Allowing yourself to focus on your creative side will enhance your feminine energy. We live in a world that glorifies the masculine energy of go-go-go. Writing, drawing, singing, and dancing are great ways to express your creativity. I’m personally a big fan of dancing while I bake and singing in my car. So, no judgment for the ways your creativity shows up. Just let it flow, babes.

2. Spend time in nature.

Nature is inherently feminine. Mother Earth, anyone?? When you spend time in nature, you’re getting away from technology. Connecting with nature also reduces stress and anxiety. It’s a great way to be forced to slow down and enjoy the beauty that surrounds you.

3. Trust your intuition.

We are given intuition (the Spirit) as a way to lead us to the better choices in life. After ignoring our intuition for long enough, we start to believe it’s leading us astray. In reality, it was always leading us the right way. It was us who stopped tuning in.

We learned in church recently that women are given an extra sprinkle of intuition in order to guide our families and know the best way to parent each child. Like, when you’ve warned your child against taking a certain way home, you’ll know when they disobey and don’t heed your warning. That’s why our kids begin to think we’re mind readers. 😉

4. Go on vacation.

Of course you can build a life that you don’t need a vacation from, but vacations will always be a nice way to see the world. Getting away from your normal routine and just slowing down for a while is such a nice recharge. We weren’t built to hustle 24/7 and if we listen, our bodies are screaming at us with how much they enjoy the slower pace once we finally allow it.

So, here’s your sign to book that vacation you’ve been dreaming about.

5. Enhance your ability to receive

As women, we try to be everything to everyone, often losing ourselves in the mix. We were designed to receive. To practice receiving: the next time someone gives you a compliment, don’t just brush it off or say something negative about yourself to combat it. Genuinely tell them thank you and admire whatever it is you were complimented for. We are really good at selling ourselves short and not recognizing where we are rocking it. Learn to admire yourself. You’ll open the door for others to do the same!

6. Make time for meditation, breathwork, and journaling

Slow the heck down. Life is not a race. No matter what speed you’re moving forward, as long as you’re learning and progressing, you’re good! If you’re not able to enjoy things along the way, then what’s the point? The journey is what it’s all about.

It’s been a crazy ride learning how to root into my feminine energy over the last couple of years because of the walls I put up & how I amplified my masculine energy in an attempt to avoid getting hurt.
